The cut list

Prices are flat, whatever the chair. Longer or denser hair is not a surcharge — it is a longer booking, and we will tell you which slot to pick when you request one.

Hair

  • Sage cut £32 Our standard scissor-and-clipper cut, washed and finished. 45 min
  • Skin fade £36 Clean blend to skin with a soft top. Holds sharp for about three weeks. 50 min
  • Scissor crop £38 All-scissor work for texture and length you can push around. 55 min
  • Grey blend £30 Softening rather than covering, matched to your natural depth. 40 min
  • Under-twelves £20 Quiet chair, clippers on the lowest setting, no rush. 30 min

Beard & shave

  • Beard shape £18 Line, length and cheek work, finished with balm. 25 min
  • Hot towel shave £34 Two towels, single pass with the grain, cold finish. 45 min
  • Cut & beard £46 Any hair service above with full beard work in one sitting. 70 min
  • Neck & edges £12 A tidy between appointments. Walk-in bench only. 15 min
  • Clipper reset £22 One length all over, washed and dried. Good before a trip. 25 min

Every booking includes

  • A proper look at how your hair is currently growing before anything is cut.
  • A wash at the back basin and a dry finish, unless you would rather skip it.
  • A plain answer on when to come back, and what to do if you leave it longer.
  • No product sell. If something would help, we will say which one and why once.

So the first time is not a guess

How a visit runs

Roughly an hour, start to finish. Here is the shape of it, including the part most shops skip.

  1. Arrive and sit

Come as you are, a few minutes before your slot. There is tea, a bench by the window, and nobody will ask you to fill anything in.

  2. Five honest minutes

Dry hair, mirror, hands in it. We look at your growth pattern, the crown, the hairline and how the last cut has aged, then agree lengths out loud before the clippers come out.

  3. The work

Scissors first where shape matters, clippers for the blend. We check in once at the halfway mark so changes happen while they are still easy.

  4. Finish and plan

Wash, dry, neck tidy, hot towel if it is in your booking. You leave knowing the week to come back and how it will sit in between.

The chairs

Each of us has work we are genuinely better at. Name a preference when you request a chair, or leave it open and we will put you with whoever suits the cut.

  • Portrait of a barber with a short beard looking at the camera

    Idris Vale

    Fades & clipper work

Fast, quiet, and exact around the ear and nape. Ask for Idris if you want a blend that still reads clean at week three.

    Tuesday, Thursday late, Saturday

  • Portrait of a barber in a dark shirt standing against a plain wall

    Marlow Quinn

    Scissor crops & curl

Works dry first, almost never uses a guard, and is the one to see about coarse or curly hair that has been thinned out too far.

    Wednesday, Friday, Saturday

  • Portrait of a barber with long hair smiling slightly in natural light

    Rosa Kettle

    Beard shaping & shaves

Opened the beard room and still runs it. Hot towel shaves, grey blending, and patient first visits for nervous younger clients.

Useful before you book

Choosing your cut

Four things decide whether a cut suits you far more than any photograph does. Read these and you will book the right slot first time.

  • Your grow-out window

If you can only get in every eight weeks, a tight skin fade will spend five of them looking unfinished. Say how often you realistically return and we will cut a shape that ages in your favour.

  • How your hair actually grows

A cowlick at the front, a double crown, or a low whorl at the back changes where weight can be removed. Bring the way your hair sits on an ordinary morning, not freshly styled.

  • Where your beard line sits

A cheek line drawn too high ages out in a week. We set it where your growth is already dense, then shape the neck to your jaw rather than to a straight ruler.

  • How much effort you will give it

Two minutes with a towel and nothing else is a legitimate answer, and a good brief. Textured crops need product and hands; blunt, heavier shapes do not.

If you are unsure, book the Sage cut. It is the easiest shape to take shorter next time, and nothing is lost by starting there.

When to come

Hours and rhythm

We are a small shop, so the week has a shape. If you would rather not wait, the quiet hours below are the ones to aim for.

Opening times

  • Tuesday9am – 6pm
  • Wednesday9am – 6pm
  • Thursday11am – 8.30pm
  • Friday9am – 6pm
  • Saturday8am – 4pm
  • Sunday & MondayClosed — chairs cleaned, tools sharpened

The quiet hours

  • Tuesday & Wednesday, before noon

The calmest part of the week. Best choice for a first visit, for children, or if you want the long version of the consultation.

  • Thursday, after 6pm

Late chairs for anyone who cannot get here in daylight. These go first, so request them early in the week.

  • Saturday, all day

Busiest by a distance and the bench fills fast. Come with a requested slot rather than hoping.

  • Walk-in bench

Two seats held free every morning until 11am for neck tidies, edges and anything under twenty minutes.

Questions

What happens if I am running late?

Up to ten minutes is fine and we will still do the full cut. Beyond that we may shorten the finish, or move you to the next free slot that day if one exists. Let us know on the request if your timing is tight and we will put you somewhere with slack behind it.

Can I bring a child, and from what age?

Yes, from around three. Book the under-twelves slot on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning when the shop is quiet, and sit in the chair beside them if that helps. Clippers start on the lowest setting and we stop whenever they need a break. First cuts often take two short attempts rather than one long one — that is normal and still one booking.

Do you cover grey, or only soften it?

Soften. The grey blend takes the hard contrast down a step or two and keeps the result matched to your own depth, so there is no line as it grows. We do not do full opaque colour, and we will say so plainly rather than attempt something that will need maintaining every fortnight.

How much notice do you need to cancel or move?

A day is plenty, and the same day is better than nothing — the slot usually goes to someone on the bench. There is no charge for cancelling. Repeated no-shows mean we will ask you to come as a walk-in instead of holding a chair.

Which products do you actually use?

A short shelf: a clay for texture, a cream for softer shapes, a beard balm and one plain shampoo. We will tell you which of those we used on you and roughly how much. Nothing is on commission and you are never going to be asked twice.

I have not been to a barber in years. Where do I start?

Request the Sage cut with the barber left open, on a quiet weekday morning. Say in the notes that it has been a while. We will spend the consultation working out what your hair wants to do now rather than reviving an old cut, and we will keep the first visit conservative so there is room to go shorter next time.

Can two of us come together?

Yes. Ask for a pair in the notes and we will try to put you in adjacent chairs at the same time, which works on weekdays and rarely on Saturdays. If only one slot is free we will offer back-to-back instead and tell you which barber takes each.

Is the shop step-free?

Yes — level entry at the front and a wide gap between the first two chairs. The basins are at the back down a short flat corridor, and a dry cut without the wash is always an option. Mention anything useful in the notes and we will have the right chair ready.

One form, no accounts

Request a chair

Tell us roughly when suits and we will reply with the nearest slots that fit the service you have chosen.

  • We reply within a working day

Usually the same morning, and always before the shop closes the next day we are open.

  • Nothing is confirmed until we answer

This is a request, not a locked booking. You will get the actual time and barber in the reply.

  • Not sure what to pick?

Choose "not sure yet" for the service and describe your hair in the notes. We will suggest the right slot length.

Give us a window rather than a single time and we will find the closest fit.

We use your details to answer this request and nothing else.
